Skin So Soft | An Iconic Avon Product We Still Love

Avon has been delivering quality beauty products since 1886 when a traveling book salesman realized that the people he was selling his books to were more interested in the free samples of perfume he offered as prizes than they were in the books he was trying to sell. Long story short, he started making perfume and hired women to sell the fragrances as his representatives.

The book seller’s name was David McConnell and Avon is the result of his foray into the perfume making business.

Avon has been growing, and evolving, and championing women ever since.

“If we stop and look over the past and then into the future, we can see that the possibilities are growing greater and greater every day; that we have scarcely begun to reach the proper results from the field we have before us.”

I don’t know about you but I’d love to get my hands on one of these glass bottles!

Skin So Soft is one of Avon’s truly iconic products. I don’t think that there’s anyone in the USA over the age of 30 or 35 who doesn’t know it, or hasn’t heard of it and many of those people have used it on a regular basis at some point in their lives.

Today, there’s a huge line of Skin So Soft products but the original Skin So Soft was a bath oil which was launched by Avon back in 1961.

Shop Bath & Body
The very first Skin So Soft ad, from 1961 reads, ‘‘See how with one bath, it improves the texture of dry, flaky uncomfortable skin.”

The first Skin So Soft bath oil, called ‘Skin So Soft Emollient Bath Oil,’ was made with emollient oils and scented with balsam, evergreen and herbs. It was packaged in a glass perfume-like bottle with green and writing and an ‘SSS’ logo. Shortly after, Avon also launched a Skin So Soft bar soap and after shower smoother.

All these years later, Skin So Soft Original Bath Oil retains the same properties as the first formula—it’s soothing and moisturizing with a fresh herbal scent.

While Skin So Soft Original Bath Oil remains similar to the inaugural product, the full Skin So Soft collection has changed over time with modern packaging and improved formulas.

There’s even a line of Skin So Soft insect repellents now.

When is the last time you took a bath? | Shop the Avon Bath and Body Sale now. Then get into that tub!

At the end of a long hard day there’s no better way to treat yourself to a little me time and release all of the stress you’ve built up from taking care of everything, all day, every day, than to take a nice long warm bath.

Showers are for waking up in the morning. Baths are for relaxing at night. It’s a good habit to get into. And there’s lots of variations you can try.

You can light some candles. Or not.

You can pour a glass of wine. Or not.

You can turn on some of your favorite music. Or not.

You can bring that book you’ve been dying to read. Or not.

You can wait for the kids to go to sleep. Or not.

You can invite your husband, or wife, to join you. Or not.

There’s really only one thing you need to do before stretching out for a little stress-free self care in your tub and that’s choose your scent and your formula. What’s it gonna be, bubble bath or bath oil?

Bath oil or bubble bath?

So you’ve run a bath, lit a few candles, and set out your best bath products. Which do you reach for – bath oil or a bubble bath?

To deeply moisturize skin, iconic Avon products like Skin So Soft Original Bath Oil infused with jojoba, work with the heat from your bath to open your pores for optimum moisture absorption.

For pure sensory indulgent body care, what is more relaxing than a soak in the tub filled with aromatic bubbles? Look out for formulas with long-lasting bubbles that stick around for the duration of your bath.

My Favorite Skin So Soft Product

By now, I’m sure everyone who’s heard of Skin So Soft by Avon has also heard that there’s one hundred different uses for it. And it is great stuff. But as an independent Avon Rep, I’m not here to count all the ways to use it. I would have to test each use before telling you that it works. I do know that it does work great what it is intended for and that’s to make skin feel soft. It’s been successfully doing that for many years. I remember using the original as a bath oil and to keep biting insects away.

But as I said, I’m not here to count all the ways to use it. I’d much rather talk about all of the different formulas of Skin So Soft there are now.

Over time, there’s been many different types of products added to the Skin So Soft line. In addition to the original bath oil, there’s now a spray oil, a shower gel, a body lotion and a gelled body oil. There’s also shave cream, two different types of hair remover and it now comes in several different fragrances.

So far, my favorite addition to the SSS family has to be their creamy body lotion formula. It has a very light scent and it isn’t greasy at all. It does wonders for my extremely dry arms and legs.

If you don’t have a favorite Skin So Soft formula yet, there’s a great can’t-miss-it article at my Avon store that offers short explanations for several of their most popular ones. You can read it by visiting: SKIN SO SOFT 101: YOUR GUIDE TO SOFT SKIN

In addition to all of the types of Skin So Soft featured above, there’s also a dedicated Skin So Soft insect repellent and SPF 30 lotion! That’s a lot of skin softening!

Two in One Skin So Soft Bug Guard plus SPF 30 Lotion reviews

Don’t you love the convenience of skin care products that work double duty… especially when you’re outdoors, in the sun and on the run? Avon has a terrific insect repellent – SPF 30 lotion product that smells wonderful and is getting rave reviews from everyone. The reviews say things like, smells great, really works, would buy again, not greasy and goes on smoothly.

I remember when my boys were young and we’d go out on the boat or to the beach. It was hard enough getting them to hold still long enough to get some sun protection on them, never mind bug spray too! I really wish we had this terrific two in one formula back then.
