It’s New Year’s Eve. Time to reflect on the passing of 2020 and look forward to the coming year. Have you made any resolutions for 2021?
When the clock strikes twelve tonight, and we say good-bye to one of the worst years any of us has ever witnessed, I stopped short of making any resolutions for the new year. Instead, I’ve challenged myself to do a little better. Try a little harder. Work a little smarter and not beat myself up if I fall behind on anything.

At my age, Thirty-Twice, I know better than to make New Year promises that don’t get kept. I’ve started years with resolutions such as; I’m going to lose weight this year, or even as hard as this is to believe now… back in the day… I even made resolutions to gain weight. I was going to write my novel, learn to speak French, keep my home spotlessly clean, plant a huge garden, join a gym and work out every day, eat nothing but healthy foods, and other fanciful notions that quickly fell to the wayside.
This year, instead of resolving to do anything in particular, I’m simply going to challenge myself to take baby steps towards the big goals I’d like to achieve… things I’d like to accomplish not just in the next year… but in my lifetime.
- Eat less sugar.
- Walk more.
- Drink more water.
- Spend more time outdoors smelling the roses.
- Write a little each day.
Like I said above, I want to try a little harder, work a little smarter, and just do my best… to do a little better… at nothing specific. And if I feel like stuffing my mouth with Dove Milk Chocolate Truffles once in a while, I won’t beat myself up about it!
Here’s wishing you and yours a beautiful New Year filled with hope, happiness, and good health!
